AMEN Serves 675 Individuals In May

The AMEN Food Pantry has made changes due to the coronavirus impact. The pantry hours have changed to Monday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 noon with a drive-thru format only. This change was made due to the heat in the afternoons. The volunteers build food bags and disperse by family head count to the clients.

There are no plans for the month of June to switch back to clients entering the building, a decision will be made month to month when a change will occur.

A reminder to all: one may visit the pantry as often as needed until the food crisis has dissipated.

The pantry served 675 individuals for the month of May, and donated food was 675 pounds. The donations and the monetary donations given by the community have allowed the pantry to purchase products not available from the food bank. Along with the food products provided, the clients are given a food voucher to HEB that can be used for food purchase. These vouchers are charged to AMEN and paid monthly.

A quick update on the progress of the new location for AMEN. Construction will be completed by mid-June. The plan is to move to the new location once an occupancy permit is given to the facility. The Central Texas Food Bank also must make a site location visit to certify the facility. If all goes as planned the pantry should be moved by early July.
