$18,000 in Items Stolen from Storage Units

La Grange Police recovered an estimated $18,000 in property that was stolen from Weeren Storage on State Highway 159 Sunday afternoon, Aug. 2. Police arrested two suspects in the case, 35-year-old Brittany Willett and 28-year-old Brandon Lee Allen, both of La Grange.

Police Chief David Gilbreath told the record that a white female and a white male were seen exiting a U-Haul truck at Weeren Storage and cutting the locks on 12 storage units. The suspects then loaded the U-Haul truck with property they took from the units, Gilbreath said.

La Grange Police Officer Cari Haman located the U-Haul truck parked at Willett and Allen’s residence on Truesdale Road. Haman checked the license plate of the U-Haul and confirmed it was used in the burglary. The U-Haul was legally rented from a dealer in Smithville, Gilbreath said.

Gilbreath said Willett gave Haman consent to search the truck. The truck contained the property taken from Weeren Storage.

Items taken included generators, shop fans, electronics, a kayak, deep fryer, ice chests and an assortment of other property.

Police recovered the property and began returning the items to their rightful owners this week.

Police arrested Willett and Allen for burglary of a building.
