The Schulenburg City Council unanimously voted Tuesday afternoon to prohibit gatherings of more than 100 people in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The move came after Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued new emergency orders last week banning large gatherings statewide unless organizers obtained permission from local authorities. I
The vote effectively prohibits the Schulenburg Festival from taking place on the first weekend of August. The three day event attracts thousands of visitors to Schulenburg each year.
