Folks Returning to Church Pews
Member churches of the Tri-County Cooperative Ministries, ELCA had their first “in church” communion services this past Sunday, May 17 at Faith Lutheran Church, Weimar at 10 a.m. and Zion Lutheran Church, Moulton at 10:45 a.m.
“Church folks are making a gradual return. Attendees at services were very cooperative, following distancing guidelines and wearing face coverings. It felt different, but good—being apart for so long and finally coming together to hear the Word, to pray together and celebrate the Sacrament. And it is important to us to provide a safe space for worshippers. Upon entering the sanctuary, attendees found cleansing or sanitary stations at each entrance. Additional face coverings were available for people who might not have one. Custodians and volunteers had prepared the church buildings by following cleaning guideline recommendations of the State of Texas and the Church,” reported Pastor Herb Beyer. Faith Lutheran in Weimar is located at 615 South Eagle Street and Zion Lutheran in Moulton is at 307 North Hackberry.
St. Peter Lutheran Church of Prairie Valley, West Point held another parking lot worship this past Sunday and will continue such services for the reminder of May. Some worshippers brought their lawn chairs to sit nearer the worship center, but maintained their social distance and wore face coverings. St. reier is located at 640 Prairie Valley Road off of Highway 71.
