I’ve always wanted to go skydiving. The chance to do so for a good cause was something too good to pass up.

Warmer temperatures over the weekend and continuing this week melted most of the snow from the state’s roadways and roofs. But Texans are still dealing with broken pipes that flooded homes and businesses, damaged municipal water systems, and continued power outages in scattered areas, mainly in East and Central Texas.

We’re accustomed, as Texans, to relying on ourselves. We take pride in being tough.

To the Editor: A great big thank you to LCRA for keeping the power on during this ice storm and to the Texas Department of Transportation for keeping our roadways passable during this past week. Outstanding work from both.

To the Editor: “Who is the cancel culture?” Is it the same people who began the “unfriend me” craze, and why are we paying attention to the “cancel culture” anyway? No one can be canceled. We don’t have “expiration dates” anywhere on our bodies.

To the Editor: Open Letter to Fayette Electric Cooperative (FEC) Management and Board of Directors (BOD) Since the Valentines Week Ice Storm and all the associated power outages are fresh on everyone’s minds, I’d like to discuss it briefly. First and foremost, all of your FEC linemen and your Contract Linemen crews performed admirably by doing an outstanding job working under extreme weather conditions to restore our lost power.

To like or dislike is not the question, but rather in what way we use it. It is common for me to declare, “I don’t like her or him”, perhaps based on their political views, their religious believes, their attitude toward minorities, or the way they look at me.
