Take a walk with me down the yellow brick road to ‘What If…” It’s a hard road to maneuver because we aren’t certain where it will lead, who will be traveling with us, and how long it will take. But, relax, and let’s explore this trek together.

Five Meals a Day!

I moved houses with my dad from the time I could manage a jack or hammer till the day I retired from house moving around the year 2000! Whenever we ventured out on a job as a crew, we all took along our individual “lunch box.” Now, as usual, we never did anything in the conventional way. The same went for our lunch boxes.

Our Post-Flood Sojourn

I hope you read Jeff Wick’s humorous account of his “Waco Summer.” I thoroughly enjoyed it and told him so. One reason I found it so amusing is that it reminded me of our experience following the flood of October 18, 1998. I’ve told you of the trauma we experienced when the Colorado River invaded our home on River Road with five and a half feet of its murky water and left it there for the following three days. Today, 23 years later, I will tell you what happened in the interim before we were able to move into our home on the bluff.

No Need for Graphic Photo

To the Editor: While I can understand the need for “jolt-journalism,” I think the decision to print the photo of the flaming truck on Hwy 71 that was burning the young man from Dime Box to death was insensitive, and unnecessary. I did not personally know this young man, or his family, but I’m certain we can all agree that it has to be hard to lose your 21 year old son in a traffic accident.

President Should Be Working for Us

To the Editor: Someone mentioned that we have experts at the southern border so there is no need for President Biden to witness the chaos first hand. I would like to know where these experts got their experience in handling situations like the one on our southern border? If the so-called experts are handling the situation then we as citizens of the United States are in big trouble.

Newspaper is Top Notch

To the Editor: I am a longtime former edi I am a longtime former editor/journalist who now works in public relations. Because of my long career in the industry, I can often be overly critical of newspapers that I read.

My question of the day: When do you quit having jobs, especially unpleasant ones? At my ripe age I figured I was through with jobs, having only aspirations to sit, drink iced tea, write when I feel like it, walk the dogs, take naps. You know, doing things you do because you want to.
