Safer Schools The Answer

To The Editor: As soon as the shooting occurred in Uvalde there was an outcry for politicians to do something, but what? The first words to be spoken have always been to control the guns in the hands of the mentally unstable or anyone for that matter. Ban the AR-15’s or AK-47’s has become a rallying cry to control the shootings, but will this really stop the needless violence? No.

The Price of What We’ve Chosen

To The Editor: The Preamble of our Constitution begins with this: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…insure domestic Tranquility…promote the general Welfare…” In light of present conditions, however, it looks like this was little more than a statement of good intentions, intentions that have gone badly awry as grieving parents in Uvalde and across the country will testify. What You Should Do About School Shootings

To The Editor: The conflict and disagreement between the advocates of gun control, on the one hand, and the advocates of unlimited Second Amendment rights on the other is not only absolutely ridiculous but may be fatal to the continued existence of our society. We – YOU and ME and my neighbor and your neighbor -- must speak up and DEMAND that our civic leaders -- elected, appointed and employed – take action now to eliminate shootings by demented people of innocent citizens, not just kids.
