C APITAL Highlights As the clock ran down on the Legislature’s third special session, Texas House and Senate leaders exchanged barbs over Gov. GregAbbott’s school choice bill and border security proposals, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

To the editor: Halloween started with many churches observing an event called “all hallows eve.” later called “holy evening,” eventually translated to today’s “Halloween.” It took place the evening before All Saints Day on November 1 and All Souls Day November 2. In 1845 Irish immigrants came to America, bringing with them the Druid Holiday honoring the pagan worship of death and evil.

As the season changes, lots of us need to protect some plants from the cold. Of course we can move our potted plants into a warm garage or greenhouse. And we can always cover our tender ground plants with plastic or cloth sheets during cold periods.
