To the editor: At Walmart a while back, without recognizing him at the time, I visited with Governor Perry (if you’re reading this Gov, I’m the little old lady who asked about Angel Flights). I found him kind, helpful, and utterly charming.

A group of women urged to reveal past jobs they disliked were surprisingly candid, and overall positive about the careers they had chosen. All these ladies were over 70, their backgrounds, locations, types of bosses they had and had been, and levels of education were varied, diverse, and interesting.

Kind Words Are Like Honey

It’s that time of year again. We put on war paint, ensure our uniforms are pressed & polished, and we fuel up for the battles ahead. That’s right, it’s football season. We become raving fanatics for our teams. We talk trash and spend gobs of money on tickets, food, spirit wear, and more. What’s funny is we do not have any influence over the outcome of the game. We spend a lot of time, money, and energy to encourage (or sometimes discourage) our favorite team and players. Have you considered how much effort you put into this whole thing?

To the editor: My heritage to Fayette County goes back a long way even to Karl Bauer in Round Top. Although I have never lived in Fayette County, I still have a strong feeling for it.

MAGA Fanning Violence

To the editor: No matter our background, origin, or political party, most of us Fayette County residents believe that violence has no place in our political process and that weapons of war have no place in our communities. We all deserve to live our lives safely, move through our communities, and engage in our elections — whether running for office or through a school hallway.
