Zoch Family Reunion Slated July 10-11
The Zoch Family 40th Biennial Reunion will be held on July 10-11. The reunion will begin on July 10 at 1 p.m. at the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum in Serbin with a tour of the museum, Church and cemetery. On July 11 the family, including all descendants of Johann and Johanna (Schneider) Zoch and Christian and Maria (Schneider) Zoch, will meet at the St. Michael’s Picnic Grounds and Pavilion beginning at 10 a.m. in Winchester Texas. There will be a barbecue meal, business meeting and elections. Playground and outdoor activities will happen throughout the day. You are asked to bring a dessert, pictures and items for the silent auction.
Book Club Meeting
The Winchester Book Club had an enjoyable evening discussing “The Only Woman in the Room” by Marie Benedict and “Defending Jacob” by William Landay. The next meeting will be on July 20 at 7 p.m. at Zilss Hall. The group will discuss “The Guest List” by Lucy Foley. Please come and join. There will be no meeting in August.
Young at Heart
A great crowd attended Young at Heart this last week with several tables of “42” dominoes, chicken-foot, and canasta. The next meeting will be on June 22 at 2 p.m. at Zilss Hall. Bring a dish to share.
Vacation Bible School
St. Michael’s Lutheran Church invites you to participate in their summer evening Vacation Bible School. This year’s theme in “Rainforest Explorers: Jesus Lead the Way.” All children between the ages of 4 and 11 are welcome to attend. It will be held at St. Michael’s Park at 310 Frio Street in Winchester and will begin on Sunday, June 27 and will run through Thursday, July 1 from 5:30-8 p.m. There is no cost. Each evening, a meal and snack will be provided along with story-time, music, games, and crafts. You may register at www.stmichaelswinchester.org. Barn Board Quilt Trail
Winchester Barn Board Quilt Trail maps can be picked up at the Texas Quilt Museum, Casino Hall, the Wendish Museum, quilt stores, and other businesses in Giddings, Smithville, and La Grange. The trail is self-drive, is available at your convenience and is a great way to spend an afternoon viewing the wildflowers and the beautiful quilt blocks on fences, gates, barns, and houses that can be seen from the road.
Recycling Trailer
The Winchester Recycling trailer is located on the side of Zilss Hall on Memorial Hall Street. Please place your recy cling in the appropriate bins. We would appreciate that you make sure that you close the bins so that any trash will remain in the bins and not blow.
Zilss Community Hall
Anyone wishing to rent Zilss Hall should contact (512) 434-0292. The hall is following COVID-19 requirements. Rent is very reasonable.
The Little Free Library
The library is always open and has a variety of authors. Space is limited, so please, if you donate a book(s), look through the current selection and take as many as you leave. The Little Free Library is housed under the roof of the patio at Zilss Hall. There is also a bulletin board available on the patio. If you have an event, you would like advertised, please post.

St. Michael’s Lutheran Church
The Board of Elders at their last meeting determined that beginning Sunday, July 4, the church will be returning to normal worship practices.
First United Methodist
The Winchester First United Methodist Church has returned to service inside the sanctuary. Please wear a mask and social distance inside the church. The Church has services on the first and third Sunday of the month at 8:30 a.m. The Rev. Patricia Zaiontz-Newcomer is the pastor.
