Where Are the Fees Going?

To The Editor:

I recently had a new driveway poured in La Grange. There was an inspection fee of $250 from the city of La Grange. The company that put in my concrete driveway was from Giddings, and they informed me that there is no inspection fee in Giddings for pouring concrete driveways.

I wonder as I drive through La Grange and hit all the streets with inadequate pavement, or unfinished street work, where are all the proceeds for inspections of concrete going?

And why doesn’t Giddings charge for the same service?
