The Fayette County Record website saw just under a million page views in 2021 (it was 914,814 views to be exact).

Here are the top ten mostviewed local stories of last year from our site:

Sept. 16: Local Business Owner Dies in Accident – Lots of folks in Fayette County knew Tom Hudson, owner of the Subway Store in La Grange. The community mourned after learning that he died on Sept. 13 in an accident at his farm near Winchester. This story was viewed 10,843 times.

July 26: Aug. 13 Deadline for Covid Relief EBT Card Sign-Up – 5,531 website visitors were interested in this news item, announcing a deadline and information for local parents to sign up for a COVID-relief benefit card.

May 17: Traffic Stop Results in Houston Man Arrest – On May 11, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a Houston man on SH 71 and arrested him after finding marijuana, THC wax and three firearms inside the vehicle. This story was viewed 4,788 times.

Aug. 9: Motorcyclist Dies on Interstate 10 Here – On Aug. 6, a motorcyclist from Conroe died in a crash on Interstate 10 at mile marker 666 between Schulenburg and Flatonia. The crash happened after an unknown SUV cut off and possibly struck the motorcycle, according to a report from DPS. This story was viewed 4,521 times.

Sept. 9: Murdered La Grange Woman Dreamed of Being a Teacher – Ezrianna Poncik, 20 of La Grange, was found dead in her home on Sept. 4. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year old Denzale Jydon Myles of La Grange for the murder. Poncik’s mother told the Record that her daughter was enrolled at Blinn College where she was studying to become a special education teacher. This story was viewed 3,847 times.

June 17: La Grange Man Dies in Auto Accident – David Romero-Capetillo, 37 of La Grange, died in a crash near the intersection of FM 609 and SH 71 Business in La Grange shortly after midnight on June 13. This story was viewed 3,077 times.

Feb. 4: Sheriff Seriously Injured in One-Vehicle Accident – Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek suffered serious injuries in a one vehicle accident that happened just after midnight on Jan. 31. This story was viewed 2,903 times.

May 6: Man Dies after His Disabled Vehicle Hit on Hwy. 71 – Jacob Bain, 21 of Dime Box, died on SH 71 near Ellinger after his disabled pickup was struck by an 18-wheeler while Bain was trying to drive to the shoulder. This story was viewed 2,574 times.

June 3: Man Shot and Killed in LG Apartment – David Wayne Harrison Jr., 40 of La Grange, was shot and killed in his residence at the River Valley Apartment Complex on Koenig Lane in La Grange. This story was viewed 2,430 times.

Aug. 2: City Government Saga in Flatonia Takes Another Unexpected Turn – Flatonia City Manager Sarah Novo and City Secretary Heather Ambrose both submitted letters of resignation, citing lack of support and dysfunctionality among City leadership. This story was viewed 2,116 times.
