What Voter Fraud?

To the Editor:

I keep hearing claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election. Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution established the Electoral College for the purpose of electing our president. When the major parties started running their presidential and vice-presidential candidates on one ticket, the 12th Amendment adjusted the way the electors cast their votes. Only the 50 states were allowed to participate until 1961 when the District of Columbia was granted three electoral votes with the passing of the 23rd Amendment.

Voter fraud is a serious offense, but it is difficult for me to take these claims seriously when many people, some prominent Republicans, are citing voter fraud in the presidential election in Puerto Rico as their evidence. Puerto Rico is not a state and, therefore, does not cast votes for the United States president in accordance with our Constitution. All those “found” ballots were for the territorial local races.
