We Deserve Better

To the Editor:

It was refreshing to see the Texas House of Representatives go beyond party politics and bipartisanship to impeach Attorney General Paxton.

In matters of integrity, honesty and professionalism, political party affiliations are irrelevant. Perhaps as this case goes to the Texas Senate for trial, the state of Texas will tell the rest of the nation that our leaders are not exempt from accountability based on their party.

It is very much the time and opportunity for us to speak up and demand that our leaders should be decent, respectable stewards of our democracy. They and we should not defend each other among party lines for egregious behavior. We deserve better than the divisions in this nation.
