Views Don’t Define Us
To the Editor:
In regards to the recent articles provided by Mr. John W. Mikus of Fayetteville, and Ms. Sandy Armstrong of La Grange, and all the many and most definitely, certainly not overlooked, great words produced by both parties, I just have to say, as I found it a bit compelling, that Mr. Mikus and Ms. Armstrong have so much in common. Yes, they have so, so much in common.
Both parties authored so eloquently and my family and friends looked forward with great anticipation each week for newly submitted articles. I just could not help but recall the great Republican strategist Mary Matalin and the great Democratic strategist, James Carville. They are on opposite ends of the political spectrums but they fell in love and are presently married. No one saw that coming. I’m just pointing out that political views are just that - views, but they should not prevent us from remaining human. Views, to me, are not wrong or right, but just a view, unless we’re on the operating table, then it’s not just a view, but it better be a right.
I have no idea what our Founding Fathers really thought, but I think they did a pretty darn good job. I do not know much about anything, as I try to stay on the humble side.
Education does not make someone better. Neither does money. My 15-year-old car runs real good, but it does not make that owner of that Maserati better than me. I prefer to have great hope that staying kind, helping out, mutual respect for all, keeping a humble spirit remain common in our society today more than ever. I live in Fayetteville and I do not know everybody, but for those who feel they have to know everyone, I will not be found on a tax roll because I rent.
