Two Sides Not Enough

To the Editor:

I would like to echo sentiments of Ms. Hoffman, as well as Mr. Romberg (letters the past two weeks), but what they leave out as the third source of frustration is your bothsidesism. Your bucolic thinking of presenting two sides of an argument and nothing more, as some sort of journalistic rigor, creates some poisonous blind spots for our community (see publishing of Don Carpenter’s racism.) Take your serving de jour, Mr. Schielack’s situation. It’s crystal clear his company was denied funds by the EDC because ofthe amount requested. That denial opened up a can of questions, some legit, most not.. .but could have been addressed succinctly with an editorial in the very same printed issue - the absurdity of a for-profit economic development entity(?) raiding public coffers. Further, I fully expect a letter of grievance from Mr. Schielack in this week’s edition expressing what-the-(darness) how the city’s police department is cornering the market on armed vigilantism.

I would much rather we all discuss mail-in voting.

Happy Memorial Day.
