Turn Your Clocks Back-Fifty Years
To The Editor:
My head is spinning, my heart is broken for all the marginalized folks who are left out, not taken seriously, experience no understanding or compassion, who are blamed and bullied for circumstances beyond their control.
There are those who want to take us back to the dark ages. Is the world flat? Are the crazies coming to get us? Let’s attack innocent folks and ruin their lives and reputations through spreading lies and conspiracy theories. This is what is dividing America. It is happening here in Fayette County. There is even a group of Republican women who are sponsoring a movie about the 2020 election which supposedly keeps the “big lie” alive.
Most Americans wanted to keep Roe as the law of the land, most Americans, including responsible gun owners, want rea sonable, responsible gun laws. Hunters don’t need militarystyle weapons that blow apart the target. The writers of the two letters to editor on June 17 criticize parents and teachers who want to teach the truth about history and the struggles of LGBTQ groups, immigrants who want to escape countries where they are in danger, and any marginalized group who wants equality.
It appears that in their minds “the truth” teaches kids to hate America. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Truth teaches that we all make mistakes throughout our lives, but we can learn from the truth and correct the mistakes. We can’t ignore the progress our nation has madewe can’t go backwards.
“The truth shall set you free.”
