Trumpist Republicans Are Bad For America

To The Editor:

Most of us Fayette County residents believe our elected leaders should act in our interests, respect our freedoms, and govern in our name. But Trumpist Republicans undertook a criminal conspiracy to overthrow the will of the people and have enabled Trump to run in the very elections—our elections—he wants to eliminate.

Trump’s announcement is simply proof that his ideas are the core of this authoritarian faction that still refuses to take accountability for their criminal actions. Across races, places and parties, Texans and Americans saw this election as a choice between freedom and fascism and voted to protect our families and our futures. Sadly, too many still can’t read the handwriting on the wall: Trumpist Republicans are bad for us, Texas, and America.

Those in Fayette County who value our freedoms, believe that we the people elect our leaders and that leaders must not choose their voters, and elect leaders to govern in our name for the public good will not allow Trumpist Republicans to take us back.
