Trump & the 2nd Amendment
To the editor:
Alex Pretti died exercising his Second Amendment right to legally bear arms in Minneapolis. ICE agents pinned him to the street, removed his holstered 9 mm handgun, and then gunned him down with ten shots. Instead of killing him, they should have recommended him for an NRA commendation.
Closely observing a law enforcement activity and not immediately following all directions may not be a smart move, but it is not activity with a penalty of capital punishment in law. The First Amendment guarantees that it is not a crime to simply be misguided or a heckler.
This event captures all that is wrong with Little Donnie and his acolytes. Lawlessness and excusal for those worshipping Little Donnie but strict law enforcement against perceived “enemies”. The “enemies” are fellow citizens working for or expecting faithful adherence to our laws and evenhanded justice.
Cindy Rodibaugh in the January 23 edition of the Record exemplifies the points made concerning the Ten Commandments. No one is going to tell her to support moral and ethical political candidates because Matthew 7:1-3 says: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged”. Nonetheless, that has not stopped her from regularly pronouncing large numbers of judgments against politicians who she does not like over many years in the Record. (Note: Do not pervert Matthew because the instruction is for someone to right their own life first and then work to improve others. Matthew 7:5 makes this clear: “First take the plank out of your own eye and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” It does not mean go to the polls and vote for liars, thieves, killers, idol worshippers, coveters and adulterers, and most notably the Republican candidate who practices all these sins.)
We are ALL in this together, so be a Ten Commandments role model, and vote for those who are also. Get onboard.
