Tired Of Looking The Other Way
To the Editor:
According to Tuesday’s Edition, St. Mark’s Medical Center’s control is being transferred to a local group (HCOE). One part of the article stated, “The SMMC board recently approved the sale of 38 acres to the south to raise money to continue operations, which, thanks to the buyer, has made continued operations possible.”
Previous articles in the paper suggested the money put up was as a loan and the land was only going to be used as collateral in case there was a default on the loan. Then we read that it was actually a sale.
(Editor’s Note: Our initial reporting did indicate this appeared to be a collateral deal, but follow up stories corrected that to be a sale.)
There have been a lot of things going on at the hospital through the years that are very concerning. I hope that there is a state or federal investigation done on the current management group and the current board of directors to determine what is, and has been, going on, indictments are given if warranted, and prison time is served if guilt is proven.
We, the citizens of Fayette County deserve for someone to get to the bottom of all of this.
