Thoughts from JFK
To The Editor:
“Those who foolishly sought power by riding on the back of the tiger, ended up inside.” This proverb was used by John F. Kennedy as a metaphor for Communism which was the fear at that time. It is relevant today for those who embrace extremism, division, violence, racism, conspiracy theories, and the “big lie” that the former president still promotes. Heed the warning.
Joe Biden campaigned on uniting our nation and has valiantly tried to in his first year. However, most Republicans in Congress continue to block his agenda and promote the “big lie.” It has been verified by both Republicans and Democrats that Joe Biden won. Our Democracy is at stake and is worth fighting for. Upholding the Constitution is the duty of our elected officials.
“For in a Democracy every citizen regardless of his interest in politics ‘hold office;’ everyone of us is in a position of responsibility; and in the final analysis, the kind of government we get depends upon how we fulfill those responsibilities.”
“Let us not emphasize all on which we differ, but all we have in common. Let us not consider what we fear separately, but what we share together.”
– John F. Kennedy
