Thoughts on the Charlie Kirk Assassination

To the Editor:

Charlie Kirk, well known conservative Christian youth political activist, was shot and killed on Wednesday, 09/10/25 while speaking at a college campus in Orem, UT. He was only 31 years old leaving behind a wife and two young children. He was a truly decent person who tried to help political discourse become more civil. He was a remarkable young man.

Violence only breeds more violence. Although I am naturally inclined towards revenge by this act, revenge while viscerally satisfying, only results in more violence and hatred.

I am reminded by both my Dad, William Howard Rollins, and by our mutual Father in Heaven, that truth, justice, peace, and love, are the only true ways forward. We should always be willing to discuss our disagreements in a civil manner, with a sense of responsibility, good humor, and brotherly love, as did Charlie Kirk, every time he spoke.

God, bless and keep his family in this time of tragedy and show us all the way forward. Lord, give us the strength to preserve the peace, seek justice for our fallen brother, and move forward with love toward our fellow man, as did Charlie.
