Thanks For the Memories

To the Editor:

“NO.”

That was all I could say in the subject line of my email to Brenda (Miles of Memories). I went on to tell her that I hadn’t read her column but saw the title and then quickly turned to the end of it.

Brenda and I have been friends since we bought our home in La Grange in 2009. Not long considering a lifetime, but dear friends since then. We were neighbors, and shared many good times together. We’d holler across the two wooded vacant lots between us to each other many days. We cleaned Valley View Drive together when the rains would wash mud, rocks, and dead leaves on the street. We shared coffee and laughs.

We’ll still be in touch by email and phone, but I’ll miss her “Miles of Memories” column. I’ll probably still look for it every paper day since I could never remember which day it appeared.

I’ll save that section of the Record with her last column forever, and maybe even read it someday.
