Thankful for America’s Bedrock Civics

To the Editor:

The approaching Thanksgiving holiday provides a great opportunity to be thankful to all who have supplied school classrooms with the Ten Commandment posters. The Ten Commandments were once a cornerstone of American education and the American legal system. American society has moved away from some of the very foundational principles that were instrumental in the foundation of this great country and the purpose of education. Many students in today’s public schools and many of our institutions are instructed to “accept more than one gender; to trust the legacy media; to reject your history; to hate your culture; and accept American decline.”

Texas Values organization reminds us, “We are now being given the unique opportunity to put more focus back on our nation’s history and founding principles. The Ten Commandments put forth universal moral truths that bring a sense of clarity.” They teach values for a civilized society.

Because the Ten Commandments helped shape America’s foundations and the American citizen’s individual character, they are foundational moral and ethical guidelines that are the bedrock of this country and deserve a visible place in every school classroom.
