Thank You, Volunteer Mowers
To the Editor:
I wish to offer a big “thank you” to the person that mowed the road frontage at the entrance of my driveway.
When my sister and I returned from town last week to my residence, there was a lady weed eating all of the tall vegetation adjacent to Country Club Drive by my driveway entrance. We stopped there, and she came up to our vehicle and greeted us.
I asked her if she worked for the Highway Department. She said no, that she and her husband just wanted to tidy up Country Club Drive, pick up the litter, and weed eat where necessary. I expressed to her my sincere gratitude for doing this; it made the entrance look so much nicer. I then showed her exactly where the property lines were.
I offered to compensate her for her time, labor, and expense, and she refused to accept anything. She said that she and her husband just enjoy trying to make things look nice along that road. I used to mow all of this area myself, but with my limited vision now, it is difficult for me to take care of this area by the road like I used to do. So she was a Godsend for doing this. I think that the efforts of her and her husband shows how wonderful and kind so many of the local people are around here; volunteering their time to help the community, just because they want to. Again, I offer a big “thank you” to her and her husband, and all of the other wonderful and kind hearted people in our community that volunteer their time and efforts to help others.
