Thank You Commissioners

To the Editor:

With our leadership for our County, I’d like to say “Thank You” for being wise, alert and very proactive due to data centers creeping in to various counties close to Fayette County.

It is greatly appreciated that we all stay on top of our rural lands and protect all that we have here in Fayette County. I suppose we wouldn’t desire a data center in Praha, Texas, now would we? Wouldn’t that be alarming and damaging? Wonder how the citizens who live there would feel about that? A mega 90,000 square foot metal building proposed to be constructed in Praha, I humbly believe, would be devastating.

It strikes me so unusual as to why there seems to be such a great push for Artificial Intelligence (Al) as being so good.

Well, we could ask someone from Dow Chemical who just recently lost their job because of Al, how do they like Artificial Intelligence? It is a fact that Dow Chemical laid off quite a large number of their labor force directly due to Al.

Artificial means made by human skill, produced by man. Made in imitation or as a substitute - not genuine, or real. Simulated. Lacking naturalness or spontaneity, forced, contrived, feigned. Made without regard to the particular needs of a situation or person.

Please note the very last sentence in the definition of artificial. Hint, without regard. Without regard. Do you really wish to have confidence in something artificial? I don’t. I’ll use what God gave me my own mind. And, a sound mind at that. This is what God gave us all. I’ll sure do everything in my power to keep my mind sound.

I also would like to inform citizens, in case they did not know, there is a lawsuit in process right now concerning a teenager who took their own life as they were in communication with artificial intelligence. Anyone who cares, can go research about this. The simple truth is that some engineer, somewhere in some back room, typed into their computer program words for artificial intelligence to pick up on. Boy did they sure make a bad booboo. Will be very interesting to watch how the lawsuit plays out.

Thank you, Fayette County Commissioners, for being good stewards, being alert, being wise and on top of fastevolving technology. Good job. God Bless Fayette County and God Bless America.
