Talk of Unity & Understanding

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

To the writer of “Unity, Understanding Needed.” It’s always amusing when Democrats talk about unity and understanding. One only has to look at how Democrats handled, and are continuing to handle, President Trump’s election and presidency to see they couldn’t care less about unity and understanding.

Political Violence Not Acceptable. I agree. But political violence is not a tool of the right. It’s a tool used by the left. Let’s start with the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk. He was murdered because, 1. Democrats are easily led by not only what the lame stream media prints and says, but also by Democratic elected officials whose new terms for anyone who disagrees with them are fascists and nazis, and 2. No Democratic politician has ever said the violence from their side needs to end. In fact, they encourage it.

Here are a couple of examples: The rioting led by Democrats in major blue cities against ICE. Let me be clear…ICE has a job to do. Illegal aliens do not belong in this country; they have no right to protest, wave their country’s flag while protesting, get taxpayer dollars, be allowed to vote, or live in this country illegally. And since the writer brought up the Constitution; immigration falls under the command of the President of the United States.

“Sources of presidential authority: Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) Section 212(f): This is the president’s most significant source of power over immigration. It authorizes the president to suspend the entry of any group of non-citizens if their admission is deemed “detrimental to the interests of the United States”. Constitutional authority: Article II of the Constitution makes the president the head of the executive branch and commanderin- chief, and requires that they “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed”. This gives the president discretion in how to enforce immigration laws, including which violations to prioritize for enforcement. Foreign policy powers: The president’s role in foreign affairs and national security provides another basis for restricting entry or designating certain groups for specific immigration treatment, such as Deferred Enforced Departure (DED).” Then we have Democrats who are encouraging inflicting harm on Republicans. Example: Jay Jones running for attorney general of Virginia. Here’s what he had to say about Todd Gilbert, a Republican and Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. Mr. Jones, accidentally sent a text message to Republican Delegate, Carrie Coyner, saying “If those guys die before me,” Jones wrote in regard to the Republican lawmakers, “I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves” to “send them out awash in something.” When he realized who he sent the message to by mistake, he just continued on offering a hypothetical situation that if he had only two bullets and had to choose between killing Gilbert or two dictators, he’d choose the Virginia House speaker. “Three people, two bullets; Gilbert, Hitler, and pol pot; Gilbert gets two bullets to the head. Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know, and he receives both bullets every time.” That was October 2025. Mr. Jones said more about Mr. Gilbert’s wife and children; but I’ll let you do the research.

And then there’s Gavin Newsom who despite 1,000% increase in assaults on ICE officers, he signs an unconstitutional law to ban law enforcement officer protections.

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) vehemently condemns California Governor Gavin Newsom for signing the “No Secret Police Act,” which further demonizes law enforcement and attempts to ban law enforcement from being able to protect their identities to keep them from being targeted by cartels, criminal rings, terrorists, and doxxed online.” Of course, Mr. Newsom has no problem allowing antifa, cartels, and other terrorist organizations to hide their faces.

“Reports and federal sources confirm that cartels have increasingly issued death threats against ICE officers. The threats are part of escalating violence and intimidation tactics against U.S. law enforcement, particularly those working on the southern border. Monetary bounties. Some cartels have reportedly placed bounties of up to $10,000 on the heads of specific ICE agents. Weaponized drones. In early 2025, memos obtained by NewsNation warned agents that cartels had authorized the use of explosiveladen drones against U.S. law enforcement, including ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel. Targeted harassment and doxxing. Threats often involve doxxing, where cartels and their associates post personal information, including names, home addresses, and photos of agents and their families, online and on fliers in their neighborhoods.”

Free Speech – here’s a couple of points about free speech. “Growing self-censorship: A 2025 survey from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) found that a majority of Americans (65%) are afraid to speak freely, fearing negative social consequences, violence, or tension with friends and family. Campus climate: The FIRE survey also indicated that a record number of students are increasingly supportive of using disruptive tactics, including violence, to silence controversial speakers (those would be conservative speakers) on university campuses.”

Let me remind you of what the Constitution says about Freedom of Speech. The First Amendment protects the right to express oneself without government censorship, though there are limitations, such as incitement to violence or true threats. Well, that ship has sailed. Conservatives are constantly being shouted down, their lives threatened, along with acts of violence against them, all by people who want to exercise their right to free speech, but not allow anyone who disagrees with them to have the same right.

To …”citizens who don’t want their children and grandkids to think they were silent when their constitutional rights were threatened and, in some case, taken away.” If you’re a Democrat your kids and grandkids will not thank you for allowing the destruction of America by the Democrat Party assisted by the lame stream media. The reality is the Democratic Party and lame stream media are the ones silencing free speech, they have hijacked the press, and they couldn’t care less about justice for all citizens. In the current political environment, justice is not blind. Democrats continue to use the law as a weapon against political opponents and those Americans who don’t agree with them. To Democrats, justice only applies to some, not all. Another question: why is it that when Democrats write letters to the editor they never provide any facts? Case in point: the first statement in this paragraph. How exactly are your constitutional rights being threatened or taken away?

As to the election of “moral leaders.” Democrats have no moral compass. Need proof, take a good look at the Democrat leaders elected; Biden, Schummer, Pelosi, Jeffries, Crockett, AOC, etc.; none of them are moral leaders.
