Support the Shelter

A letter was sent regarding the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. The lady had wanted to volunteer for dog walking, taken the steps to sign up and never received a response to her e-mail. She was upset because she did not hear back. I believe if she had just placed a phone call this could have been corrected. The shelter has a small staff and they are very busy. They need help from volunteers and appreciate them. This is a wonderful shelter - the best facilities I have ever seen. Each dog has its own cage (most house three or four dogs together). They have fenced in areas where the dogs can run loose and they are also walked once a day. The adoption fee is around $79 which is very reasonable. I checked with my vet and the price for spaying a large dog was $180. If you are a cat person - cat snuggling is available. It is also a way to meet like-minded nice people. La Grange is lucky to have this wonderful facility. If you are an animal lover, give volunteering a try - you won’t regret it. If you can’t volunteer - send a donation.
