Speeding in School Zone Leads to Drug Arrest
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department resonded to during the week of Aug. 30 through Sept. 6.
Possession
Sept. 3, Koehne stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of E. Travis for speeding in the school zone. Officer arrested the driver for possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Animal Complaint
On Aug. 31, Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call in the 700 block of E. Eblin for an injured deer.
Accident
On Aug. 30, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for a minor accident. Officer gathered information then completed an accident report.
Sept. 1, Anderson worked a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of S. Monroe and E Milam.
Sept. 1, Patrolman Kevin Currington responded to the 100 block of W. Travis for a minor accident with no injuries.
Agency Assist
On Aug. 31, Currington was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place for a combative patient.
Sept. 3, Meinardus responded to the 500 block of S. Cindy Lane for an individual that had fallen. The door was locked so officer contacted apartment manager. Individual was transported by EMS.
Sept. 3, Patrolman Justin Koehne assisted deputies with traffic control in the 1900 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass.
Assault
Sept. 1, Anderson took a report from complainant for an assault that occurred in the 2300 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Sept. 4, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of an assault in the 300 block of E. Fannin. Complainant did not want to file charges.
Citizen Assist
Sept. 3, Patrolman John Wostarek spoke to complainant in the 200 block of S. Lester that advised that their package was delivered to the wrong address. Complainant stated they talked with their neighbor and got their package from the neighbor’s front porch.
Sept. 5, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr gave a subject a courtesy ride to their hotel from St. Mark’s emergency room.
Sept. 5, Zwahr spoke with a caller that wanted a ride to Smithville from St. Mark’s Place. EMS was able to transport individual to Smithville.
Sept. 5, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to the 1800 block of N. Jefferson for an older Hispanic male in a wheelchair traveling northbound. Officer gave him a courtesy ride to Giddings.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 31, Wostarek spoke with an individual in the 100 block of Northwest Circle in regard to a civil matter.
Criminal Mischief
On Aug. 31, Emmons responded to the 500 block of S. Cindy Lane where complainant advised of the rear passenger window on the complainant’s 2008 GMC pickup was damaged.
On Aug. 31, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Lowerline for an attempted burglary.
Gun Shots
On Aug. 31, Mohr received a call of possible gunshots being heard in the 400 block of W. Colorado. Officer was unable to locate the source of the gunshots.
Harassment
On Aug. 30, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell spoke to a subject at the police station in regard to harassment.
On Aug. 31, Patrolman Cari Haman received information about harassment in the 700 block of E. Milam.
Sept. 3, Meinardus spoke with complainant in regard to two subjects that chased her daughter in the 400 block of S. Jefferson through town at a high speed attempting to fight her. Officer took information and took subjects statements and completed a report regarding the incident.
Reckless Driving
Sept. 3, Meinardus responded to the 1000 block of E. Pearl for a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in the neighborhood. Officer arrived and spoke with the driver who had already parked. Officer advised the driver to drive the speed limit.
Suspicious Person
On Aug. 31, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Jefferson in regard to a suspicious person. Officer spoke with all subjects involved.
On Aug. 31, Currington was dispatched to the 100 block of N. Jefferson in reference to a subject in roadway trying to wash windows for money. Subject advised he couldn’t stand on highway so subject left.
On Aug. 31, Mohr received a call of a white truck with several people at the ATM in the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer arrived and found that they were getting money from the ATM.
Sept. 1, Zwahr responded to the 500 block of N. Jefferson in regard to a suspicious person knocking on a door. Officer arrived and observed no one in the area.
Sept. 5, Currington checked on a suspicious subject in the 300 block of W. Travis. Officer arrived on location and employee was working late.
Theft
On Aug. 31, Currington was dispatched to the 100 block of Northwest Circle for a possible theft. Officer took information.
Sept. 1, Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Travis in reference to a theft.
Sept. 1, Mohr received a call of a theft in the 1000 block of S. Madison and took report.
Sept. 4, Mohr responded to the 200 block of E. Travis in regard to identity theft.
Trespassing
Sept. 1, Chief David Gilbreath responded to the 200 block of Ellinger Road where complainant reported that a subject was inside a room and was not suppose to be on the property. Subject left the property.
Sept. 2, Minardus responded to the 400 block of N. Jackson where caller stated that subject was on his property and he has repeatedly asked her to leave and not return. Officer made contact with the subject and gave her a criminal trespass warning.
Sept. 3, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Jackson in regard to a subject that was trespassing. Officer arrived on location and the subject had left prior to officer’s arrival.
Sept. 3, Wostarek was dispatched to the 900 block of E. Camp in regard to two subjects that were trespassing on their property. Subjects were gone prior to officer’s arrival.
Traffic Control
On Aug. 31, Anderson worked traffic control for after school pick up in the 700 block of E. Travis.
Sept. 1, Anderson directed traffic for afternoon school pick up in the 700 block of E. Travis.
Verbal Disturbance
Sept. 1, Anderson received a call in regard to a possible disturbance at HEB in the 400 block of E. Travis.
Sept. 3, Koehne was dispatched to the 1600 block of N. Jefferson in reference to subjects that were pulled over and yelling at each other. Subjects left location before officer arrived.
Sept. 4, Meinardus responded to the hotel in the 600 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass. Officer arrived and spoke to both parties who stated that there was yelling and slamming doors but no physical contact was made. Officers identified the subjects and they left town to go home.
Warrant Arrest
Sept. 4, Zwahr arrested a subject on a misdemeanor warrant at One St. Mark’s Place.
Welfare Check
On Aug. 31, Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Main for a welfare check. Officer spoke to the subject and all was fine,
Sept. 1, Mohr received a call of a welfare check in the 400 block of W. Colorado. Officer found subject to be all right.
Sept. 2, Mohr received a call of a welfare check in the 100 block of S. Reynolds but was unable to locate the subject.
Miscellaneous
On Aug. 30, Meinardus was dispatched to the 300 block of Fireside Lane for several 911 open line calls and believed it was a child playing on the phone. Officer made contact with the resident and she stated that her child was playing with the phone.
On Aug. 30, Koehne spoke with complainant in the 600 block of W. Travis who advised there was trash all over the parking lot. Officer passed the information on to the manager.
On Aug. 31, Zwahr responded to a call of a missing vehicle in the 800 block of N. Jefferson. The vehicle was not missing and no offense had occurred.
Sept. 2, Wostarek spoke to complainant in the 800 block of E. Milam in regard to a scam message on her Facebook. Complainant did not give out any personal information and blocked the subject that sent the message.
Dept. 4, Zwahr responded to a vehicle spilling liquid while driving in the 1700 block of State Highway 71 feeder road. Officer searched the area and was unable to locate and did not observe any waste on the roadway.
