So Proud to Be Czech

To the Editor:

The early May tribute to the culture happened again with Slavnost at TCHCC. More than 350 Czechs and others gathered to eat, dance and join up with friends and relatives to pay tribute to the Czech immigrants of Texas.

Rain did not deter the celebration where there wasn’t much talk about farming, the art of egg decorating or the making of molasses but there was that same spirit.

That spirit of family, religious ties, integrity, and work ethic is what turned a stubborn land into a successful working farm and life into a meaningful existence.

In today’s world our children and grandchildren need these examples of our legacy more than ever.
