Sheriff Keith Korenek Reports on Recent Activity
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of June 2020:
Deputy Ben Wilson responded to Radhost School Road in reference to a suspicious male being on the property. The male was located and arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.
Deputy Marc Bennett responded to an address off FM 955 in reference to a firearm located in the driveway. The firearm was collected and is being held at the Sheriff’s Office as abandoned property. Sergeant Ron Naumann responded to Fayetteville where a disturbance was reported with a male protesting youth baseball in Fayetteville due to the COVID-19 virus. The situation was calmed and settled.
Sergeant Investigator Angela Lala is currently investigating a case where a prohibited item was brought into the correctional facility.
Sergeant Charles Jobb responded to a residence on Trinity School Road where a female was assaulted by a male. The male was charged with assault. Jobb also responded to another disturbance at a residence off of State Highway 159 between two males. The parties were separated and no criminal charges were filed.
Deputy Terry Guentert responded to property in the Freyburg area for a burglary. Numerous items were taken from a house and a barn. Guentert also took a report of credit card abuse from a citizen whose account number was used without their consent.
Investigator Garrett Durrenberger is currently investigating a theft at Scherer Kubota where an ATV and tractor were stolen. The ATV has been recovered and the investigation continues.
Deputy Herman Olvera attempted to stop a vehicle involved in a pharmacy burglary in the Austin area. The vehicle fled and eventually stopped in Ellinger where numerous people fled the vehicle. Two suspects were apprehended. Deputy James Ulbig apprehended one of the male subjects which fled on foot from the pursuit which ended in Ellinger.
Olvera also stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding on Starry Road and during the investigation the driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Deputy Darrell Maze met with a complainant in reference to criminal mischief to her vehicle and a report was taken. Deputy Kenn Kretz investigated an alleged theft of service. The suspect in the case claimed there had been a mistake and promptly paid for the service.
Deputy Joe Gonzales took a criminal mischief report to property off South US Highway 77. Gonzales also responded to a traffic accident on State Highway 95. During the investigation marijuana was located and the driver of the vehicle was arrested.
Deputy Michael Krenek responded to a traffic accident near Ellinger where one driver assaulted the other driver and then fled the scene. The suspect was identified and a warrant will be issued. Krenek also responded to a disturbance in the La Grange area where the suspect fled the scene. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Deputy Tammy McCleney took a report of stolen headstones from the Warda Cemetery. McCleney also made an arrest on a suspect of family violence. Deputy Jared Michalec responded to Bluff Manor Apartments for a disturbance where a male was assaulted by a female. The female was located and arrested for assault. Michalec responded to a verbal disturbance at a residence off of US Hwy. 77. The parties there were separated for the remainder of the day.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 51 individuals for the month of June and no inmates were transported to TDCJ Facilities due to COVID-19.
