Ellinger Sewer and Water

The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at the Ellinger Fire Station. However it also had two special meetings; one on Sept. 17 and the other on Sept. 27. Greg Hunger, president, called the Oct. meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. with six directors present. The minutes from the previous three meeting were presented and approved.

At the Sept. 17 special meeting the Board discussed delays, project planning, and contracts involving the filtration system project to be funded by the Texas Water Development Board. Roy Moore made a motion to terminate the contract with BEFCO Engineering and it was seconded by Michael Schlabach-motion carried. Roy Moore made a motion to offer Weishuhn Engineering of Columbus the contract and the motion was seconded by Paula Urban; motion carried. Presently Weishuhn Engineering is preparing agreements with TWDB and the Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation.

The City of Ellinger has also engaged the services of Weishuhn Engineering in its request for a TWDB grant to help fund the filtration project. During the Sept. 27 special meeting the Board discussed the apartment complex proposal once again. During the September regular meeting the Board made a motion to allow no more than twelve apartments, but at the special meeting another motion was made by Paula Urban to allow RQ Homes to build an eighteen-unit apartment complex. Schlabach seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Next Cierra Craig presented the Manager’s report. Operational expenses totaled $4165.99 during September. She noted that on Sept. 21 Chem-Equip repaired rotometer due to incorrectly feeding chlorine at the WWTP. The cost of this repair was $800.50. Also noted was the repair of two water line repairs at the end of September. Billing cycle should be back on track by December, and late fees will be billed. Financial reports were reviewed and discussed; Urban made a motion to accept and pay bills; seconded by Moore and motion carried. The Board gave Inframark permission to update the Emergency Preparedness Plan and submit to TCEQ. This will cost the Corporation $2500. No action was taken on the unused portion of water well funds, or non-profit status.
