Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 22-28.

Animal Complaint

On May 26, Officer Juan Castilleja was informed of an animal complaint in the 1300 block of Pierce in reference to a dog on a short leash without food and water or shelter. Officer was able to locate number for an individual. Officer was informed that the dog belonged to individuals’ son and officer informed her that her son was in violation of the city ordinance. Officer will give son until Friday to fix the situation.

On May 28, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 1100 block of Upton for an animal tied up outside with no shelter. Officer spoke with the owner and they understood new laws and advised they would take the dog inside.

Disturbance

On May 23, Kalina responded to the 1200 block of James Ave. for a disturbance. Both subject agreed to stay separated. It was verbal only.

On May 24, Kalina responded to the 800 block of Hwy. 77 to a disturbance. Officer spoke to an individual and she advised they were arguing because she was taking a shower in the bathroom to long. One individual agreed to leave. Parties were separated.

On May 25, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 1200 block of South St. in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival all parties were spoken to and identified. Officer was informed by dispatch that one of the male subjects has a felony warrant. Individual was transported to St. Mark’s to be medically cleared and then transported to county jail and released to on duty jail staff.

Traffic Stop

On May 22, Officer Byron Powe stopped a vehicle for no license plate in the 700 block of Kessler and a citation was issued for expired registration.

On May 22, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of I-10 for defective headlamp. Citation was issued for expired drivers license.

On May 22, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of I-10 for a defective tail lamp and a search was conducted due to odor of marijuana and a marijuana shake was in plain view. No other contraband was found and a citation was issued for no drivers license.

On May 22, Powe stopped a vehicle for an expired temporary plate ad driver was issued citation for no insurance.

On May 22, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding going 54 in a 35 mph zone. Driver received a citation.

On May 22, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Summit for expired registration. Driver received a warning for registration and a citation for no insurance.

On May 22, Powe stopped a vehicle for obscured license plate in the 700 block of Summit. Driver received a citation for driving without a license and had previous convictions, however Fayette County Sheriffs Office was not accepting Class B arrests.

On May 23, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Summit for expired registration and the driver was issued a citation.

On May 23, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of I-10 for no license plate lights. Citation was issued for expired registration.

On May 25, Powe stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way in the 400 block of Anderson.

On May 25, Officer Frank Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Kessler for cutting off another driver and for reckless driving.

On May 25, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding going 91 in a 75 mph zone in the 600 block of I-10. Driver received a citation.

On May 25, McFadden and Officer Jacob Mills stopped a commercial vehicle for traveling on a city street (200 block of West Ave.) that prohibits commercial vehicle traffic. Driver was advised of the street signs where he entered. Driver was issued a citation.

On May 25, Powe stopped a vehicle for expired registration in the 300 block of Kessler.

On May 25, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Kessler for defective tail lamp. Officer issued a verbal warning.

On May 26, McFadden and Mills stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of N. Kessler for a defective headlamp. A warning was issued.

On May 26, McFadden and Mills stopped a vehicle for not signaling in the 700 block of Kessler. Driver had an identification card and was issued a warning and the owner of he vehicle arrived and took custody of the vehicle.

On May 26, McFadden and Mills observed a vehicle in the 14 block of Kessler for no front license plate. Officers stopped the vehicle in the Arlans parking lot. Driver advised the plate needs to be placed on the front bumper and not on the dashboard. A warning was given.

On May 26, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 49 in a 35mph zone.

On May 26, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at N. Main and Upton for driver not having kids secured and a warning for running the stop sign.
