Running Out of Arguments

In her latest letter, Cindy Rodibaugh delivers plenty of sermonizing, but not a single fact. When confronted with flaws in her logic, she abandoned the debate entirely and retreated into scripture, pop culture quotes, and condescending “bless your heart” platitudes.

Notice what Ms. Rodibaugh did not answer. She offered no defense for her claim that catching a criminal somehow proves our election system does not work. She offered no counter-explanation for why she conflates outdated voter rolls with fraudulent votes... and she completely ducked her unprovoked attack on the non-partisan League of Women Voters.

Instead, Ms. Rodibaugh quotes Jack Nicholson and Isaiah to lecture the community on “ignorance” and “truth.” But true ignorance is refusing to engage with facts when they contradict your narrative. It is easy to claim you are standing for “truth” when you define “truth” as whatever confirms your political biases.

Ms. Rodibaugh writes that “it’s a disgrace to stay ignorant.” On that, we finally agree. But staying informed requires looking at real data, understanding how our laws actually work, and having the intellectual honesty to admit when your arguments have been dismantled. Hiding behind Bible verses to avoid answering basic logical questions is not a search for truth, it is simply an admission that you have run out of arguments.
