A Response to Faith Based Fiction
To the Editor:
Mr. Green’s analysis of my previous letter to the editor regarding the Minneapolis shooting claims I misrepresented facts and implications of gun violence with “faith-based fiction and failed reasoning.”
There was no misrepresentation and no fiction in my faith-based reasoning.
Mr. Green states, “If personal agency is the issue, then Westman’s gender identity is irrelevant.” My faithbased reasoning is based on Genesis 1:27, and 2:22. No where in the Bible is there a reference to transgenderism.
It is my perception the transgenderism is a “pathology of identity” perpetrated by arrogant humans who defy their God given nature. I think, at best, it is criminal for anyone to promote an ideology to children that suggests their biological makeup can be changed from male to female or vice versa before they even understand human biology. Emphasis on mind over matter seems to be the order of the day—i.e., if I think I’m a boy, even though I was born a female, it can happen.
I think the entire industry of “gender affirming care” is an evil Ponzi scheme that seduced and took advantage of Westman in his adolescence.
Westman’s “personal agency” was confused by gender dysphoria—a very relevant factor in this case. He didn’t have the viewpoint to develop his ‘personal agency.’
I don’t condone his actions. The tools he chose to use in acting out his rage (as stated in his own writings) were purchased legally and used illegally. He chose to use lethal tools illegally. That is a conundrum Mr. Green does not address.
Prayer is not a substitute for responsibility or abiding by the law. Prayer is action when properly applied, seeking the comfort and instruction of the infallible Creator. Every individual is responsible for his/her actions.
My ‘theological deflection’ on the facts of the case offers comfort and will always be a very real aspect of my “partisan noise.”
Has Mr. Green’s “partisan noise” offered leadership or solution or comfort in “honoring the victims”?
