Respect for Veterans

To The Editor:

Dear Mrs. Thomas,

My husband and I have been reading your book.

We find it very heartwarming and interesting. We were just small children at the time but remember our folks talking about difficulties here at home.

My dad served in the Occupation Forces in Germany after the fall of Hitler.

My husband served in Vietnam. Unfortunately those guys were not treated well on their return to stateside. That has fortunately changed with time. We have many in Fayette County who were drafted for that “little” hot mess.

Condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Ripper.
