Republicans Should Apologize
To the Editor:
I was saddened and somewhat shocked by reading the October 9 front page story in The Fayette Country Record regarding the recent “political parade” event. A few purported Republicans decided to display their political leanings with a vehicle parade.
Deciding to drive through the neighborhood mentioned in the article was provoking at best and arrogant at the least. One must wonder “did these folks not know what could result by driving through that neighborhood?” It’s simply not good to intentionally rouse your neighbors.
I get it. People want to encourage others to vote for their candidate. That is not unusual and, most of the time, a worthy thing to do.
The local Republican Party should be embarrassed and apologize to not only the residents of the neighborhood but also to the citizens of La Grange. That whole event was just bad judgment by the participants.
I am personally not affiliated with any political party but, does that really matter?
I have believed that all of Fayette County was peaceful and folks enjoyed getting along. I hope that my beliefs are on target.
