Friday the 13th notwithstanding, the La Grange Leopards held a 7-6 lead at halftime over A&M Consolidated’s Tigers, but then evil luck befell them and the Bengals left with a season-ending 21-7 triumph over the purple and gold. A small, shivering crowd of about 800 sat through a blustery north wind for the Parents Night game, where moms and dads of Leopards players and managers were presented before the opening whistle. They witnessed nearly all of the scoring in the final 30 seconds of the two halves with both A&M and the Leopards tallying in the final half minute of the second quarter and the Tigers posting their third counter with a half minute to go in the finale. The Tigers whipped up another offense at the start of the second canto, lost the pigskin on downs at the LG 34, followed by two fumbled recoveries, one by each club. When La Grange couldn’t go during its possession, Larry Urban boomed a 65-yard punt with the assistance of the north wind.
