Railroad Work Continues in Muldoon
Downtown Muldoon has been busy this past week with railroad crews replacing the main crossing on FM 2237. They have slowly been replacing the crossings all along FM 154 and this was just the latest. This did cause some incontinence for those traveling on East FM 2237 who needed to get onto FM 154. They were rerouted on the county road over to the other crossing.
Rain
This past week has seen some crazy weather come through the area. During the week some strong storms blew through with lots of lighting and high winds. A few got three quarters of an inch of rain while not a mile away got only seven hundredth of an inch and others received none at all.
The blow up storms have some nervous with hay on the ground. The temperatures have been pleasant in the mornings, but hitting high nineties and triple digits in the afternoons. Humidity has also played a part in making the afternoons feeling even warmer.
Happy Anniversary
Frank and Kathy Chlumsky celebrated their twentyfirst wedding anniversary on Wednesday. They had a nice day out and about in the area.
Out and About
Nancie Blair traveled to the Chicago area with her mom Elaine Lang and her sister Lu Ginapp. They went to pay their respects to Elaine’s sister who had passed away and Elaine was unable to attend. They met up with Nancie’s cousin Linda Eaton and did some reminiscing while they looked at lots of old photographs and diaries and other things that Linda had of her mom and dad’s families. Some of the materials dated back to the 1800’s. While up north they drove over to Wisconsin to visit some other cousins and went to lunch at a Culver’s and visited and reminisced about family.
Devon Boehnke enjoyed a visit from his daughter and son in law Beth and Jack Field of Magnolia when they came out to have a test run of their new travel trailer. Coming along for the adventure was their daughter Erica and Beth’s mom, Virginia Tappe.
Pam Sheffield traveled to Sherman, Texas last week to visit her dad, stepmom and other family members. Her dad was in a rehab facility due to a recent fall and surgery, so Pam was able to visit with him there. Two of her sisters from Fort Worth and Mississippi also came in for a visit and a weekend get together. Their dad’s brother was in the same rehab facility and so there was a nice family reunion with lot of stories and laughter. Pam then went to Houston to spend some time with her daughters Sarah and Allison and sister Michele. She got to have lunch with them and her grandkids Hayley and Benjamin before returning to Muldoon.
Ron and Pam Knotts recently traveled to Houston to attend the Celebration of Life Service for a young cousin, and as is often the case, it turned out to be a mini family reunion. The son of Pam’s Cousin Lynn Schroeder, Phillip, was 45 and passed away unexpectedly just a few weeks ago. The service was full of great memories and lots of expression of faith and promise. Having not seen many of these folks in years, it was a challenge to recognize some relations who may have aged a bit since last seen. But several connections were made with relatives whom Pam had lost touch with since childhood. That made for a great day of reconnection. Plans were made, so it would not take a funeral for them to get together again.
