Pray to End Abortion

To the Editor:

Kudos to Kerina Kelly for her excellent and informative letter in the Feb. 7 edition of The Fayette County Record regarding Planned Parenthood and the disgusting and reprehensible business of abortion. As she stated in her letter, Planned Parenthood receives over a half billion dollars of our tax monies from the U.S. Government every year. President Biden promised to codify Roe v. Wade as he campaigned for office. And waiting in the wings to swoop in and take his place is Kamala Harris — who is even worse.

Following the Presidential Election, pictures of Biden and Harris were displayed on the front of the Opinion Section of the Jan. 22 edition of The Fayette County Record. Ironically, Jan. 22 is the 48th anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision by the United States Supreme Court which legalized the killing of unborn babies in America. Below the pictures of Biden and Harris was a caricature of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Next to that caricature was the caption: “If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in your struggle, unborn generations will be the recipient of a long and desolate night of bitterness and your chief legacy will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos.” I doubt Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. would have agreed with having a caricature of himself beneath the pictures of Biden and Harris. He stood for changing injustice through peaceful means rather than through the use of violence. And there is nothing more violent and cruel than the injustice of abortion.

Ms. Kelly ended her letter by stating, “Planned Parenthood must be stopped. We need to stand up for these innocent precious babies and give them a voice. Standing and praying for these innocent babies and their mothers happens throughout the year with the Central Texas Coalition for Life, and in the spring and fall every year in 40 Days for Life prayer vigils throughout the world.

40 Days for Life started in Bryan/College Station by the local Coalition for Life in 2004 and eventually resulted in the Planned Parenthood closing its abortion facility there in 2013.

40 Days for Life is designed to draw attention to the injustice of abortion through prayer and fasting, community outreach and education, and peaceful prayer vigils on the public right-of-ways in front of abortion facilities. Vigils have been held in hundreds of cities throughout the United States and have spread to over 68 countries. The next 40 Days for Life vigil begins on Feb. 17 and continues through March 28. 40 Days for Life vigils will be held at two locations in Austin: Planned Parenthood, 201 East Ben White Blvd and Whole Woman’s Health, 4100 Duval Road.
