In Praise of County Judge Joe Weber

Judge (General) Joe Weber is moving more than dirt at the river.

He is taking care of the business of the county. The “good ole boys” have never seen anyone like Joe Weber (except for the likeness to Donald Trump). These are leaders who see a problem and get about solving the problem quickly, efficiently, for the long term and at a fair cost to do the job. This kind of leadership does not allow laziness and certainly will not have a “good ole boy” slowing down any project. Hard hats and construction boots replace cowboy hats and cowboy boots. Standing around shooting the breeze is not tolerated by such skilled leaders.

Judge Weber probably wonders why St. Marks was not a priority for the people. That is probably already on his list of priorities.

Another part of the infrastructure that needs attention is to close off the square, cobble stone the streets, make it a pedestrian square. No cars or delivery trucks allowed inside the square. Make streets around the square “one way” streets. Clean up the trashy areas behind the square businesses and make them parking lots with monthly parking fees for those who work in the area who use the lots. Deliveries to businesses on the square can park in specially marked areas to unload.

Stain the sidewalks that rim the square for at least three blocks from the rim.

Steam clean the buildings and paint or stain them. Trees here and there in the square to make for shade and greenery that creates a calm cool effect and shrubs at store fronts.

Judge Weber knows how to strategize to get these projects done – but the people must do their part – no laziness, no status quo, no excuses. Keep lawns and spaces around their homes clean – a must.

Fayette County has needed a leader like General Weber for decades. Now that this county has become fortunate to have him, work with him to make our towns safer, our economy better, our health care nearer and better, better flood control, safer roads – especially on the Bluff’s “traffic path” – so the wonderful children of the county see a brighter future for their “home town.” Judge Weber can get it done. Stop the old complaints and flimsy excuses. It’s time to move forward while you have real leadership. The changes will make you proud when he is finished.
