Post Office: Please Pick Up the Phone
To the editor:
Our post office needs help. I have tried various times this past year to call for information and the phone rings several times, goes to prompts, says to hold for the next available person, then cuts me off. After speaking with other friends, I found out they are experiencing the same, one person telling me no one answering the post office phone has been well over a year or more. So, I decided to confront an employee at our local post office, in person, and this person was quite rude to me, told me they reported the phones to the phone company one time, that it was really not their problem and that they really didn’t care what the townspeople thought. This same person then walked away from me without our conversation having ended.
I tend to think the phones do work, the actual problem is that no one answers them.
I wonder what has happened to the respect for customers that people used to have? People used to be proud to work for the post office or appreciative they had a government job. I’ve seen carriers speed through streets way over the posted speed limit, and I’ve seen carriers dressed like hippies from the 1960s. I’ve also heard the same problems are happening in the Schulenburg post office.
These people are paid with our taxpayer money. They work for us. We all need to speak up. Everyone has a boss.
