Opinions and Dissensions

To the editor:

I’m always amazed when I read an article about Round Top written by someone who has rarely or never attended a Town Council meeting nor contacted anyone on the Council nor the Mayor’s office about their particular subject.

Many of the problems of Round Top, unfortunately are occurring outside the one square mile. We have no control over what happens in the ETJ. We, the Council members, do have concerns over safety and how our small town would be affected if someone were to be injured by traffic around the square, and that is more likely to happen twice a year during the Antique Shows if drivers can’t see someone walking because of all the tents around the square as well as large vans parked there as well.

So, yes we have concerns about parking and are trying to do something about it, unlike journalists who only want to throw barbs at those of us trying to make Round Top a better, more functional place right now in 2025. We have to deal with the hand we are dealt. We are all volunteers. No one is paid to do this, so I’d appreciate it in the future if you have comments to make that are negative, if you would call someone in the town office and at least get the true facts rather than relying solely your opinion and goal to stir up dissension.
