One Room School Curiosity
To the Editor:
Reference is made to the great article in the Record about Adm. Koenig and his growing up in the Black Jack Springs area. Of especial interest was the remark about the one room school house he attended.
At one time we owned land on Buckners Creek out from of O’Quinn. In 1986 while going down FM 609 to the land, I had notice a timber shack near the intersection of FM 609 and the road going to Black Jack Springs Cemetery.
At that time, it appeared to be in good enough condition to be renovated or at least have the boards salvaged. As the years went by, it slowly deteriorated until around 2012, when we sold the property, it was not even in shape to salvage any of the timber. Now, why the interest? It was my understanding that this was once a schoolhouse. Possibly, was it the one Ad. Koenig attended?
Just curious.
