Not Fair Analysis of Kolkhorst

To the Editor:

I was disheartened to learn the Texas Monthly Magazine has resorted to publishing propaganda. Its personal attack on our local senator and evaluation of her proposed legislation, as reported in June 30, 2023 Fayette County Record, page B2, is full of misinformation and smacks of pure propaganda.

Foreign national ownership of land, vaccines, and renewable energy are real issues to SD 18 residents and not “scapegoats.”

There is nothing “craven” (per definition in Webster’s college dictionary) about Lois Kolkhorst. I will agree she is the probably the “smartest” in the capitol building.

The anonymous “capital insider” source claims the bill prohibiting foreign nationals from purchasing land would “hurt innocent people,” specifically referencing the Uyghur refugees. Can they get out of China?

Regarding vaccine mandates, the key word is mandates. The scare tactics incorporated to impose the mandates for the COVID-19 vaccine were very effective. According to expert sources, those who were diagnosed having had the disease, even with minimal symptoms “had complete and durable immunity” and did not need the vaccine but nevertheless, were mandated to get it. And what about those individuals with allergies or other pre-existing conditions that should have been exempt from the vaccine?

Regarding “punitive bills against renewable power providers,” do the “other power producers” receive all the perks and subsidies the renewable power providers get?

I found the entire Texas Monthly analysis of Lois Kolkhorst malicious and unbelievable.
