No Advantage to Playing Blame Game

In response to last week’s letter to the editor: There is no advantage to playing the “Blame Game” as was expressed in one of last week’s letters.
I was recently reminded of the successful outcomes of two scenarios where there was plenty of blame on both sides of the situation, but insight prevailed.
I learned the Hebrew word for insight is ‘sekel’, which means ‘intelligent.’
The first example was the Biblical story of Abigail who saved her husband and David from bad decisions (I Samuel 25.)
The second was listening to an interview of Bob Woodson, founder of the Washington- based Woodson Center (The Daily Signal podcast, 2/26/24.)
In Woodson’s view, “race has been a distraction” to addressing the real problems confronting poor communities.
The Woodson Center has models for success; changing lives in schools, in community programs in rough neighborhoods in New York, as well as Black Mothers United in Silicon Valley. Woodson left the civil rights movement so he could work on behalf of the low-income people of all races. Whining and protesting by groups such as Black Lives Matter and Antifa may profit them, but does not profit the people they supposedly say they represent. Such groups play the ‘blame game’ and have made a ‘commodity out of poor people instead of restoring individuals.’
Playing the ‘Blame Game’ is a distraction and isn’t going to solve any problem. ‘We the people’ are responsible for who serves in government. I believe there are Republicans and Democrats who are concerned about the destruction of American freedoms that too many of our patriots paid their lives for and too many of our current representatives are giving away.
Citizens, as voters, have a responsibility to understand the history of the U.S. and to vote for representatives who respect and uphold our history by executing their duties properly.
It is the voter that creates quality in government by voting for representatives who will invest in the economy and personal safety of all U.S. citizens.
