I am truly amazed at the breadth of the Fayette County Record’s readership. During this month’s “Save the Faison House” endowment campaign, I received a call from Ray Cochran in Palm Springs, California. He proceeded to make a substantial donation to the campaign in honor of his partner, the late Gene Harvey Dippel. A hometown boy, Gene was active in the La Grange High School band as well as played tennis and basketball. He even taught at La Grange for a while before entering the big world of commerce. Mr. Cochran always enjoyed his visits to La Grange with Gene and keeps those memories alive by subscribing to the paper.

Reader Ethel Hodges from Houston played the online quiz regarding the Faison House, winning a gift certificate from Farmer’s Lumber and graciously donating it back to us to assist in repairs.

It all goes to show that you never know where news regarding our great county will surface!
