Needlessly Endangering Our Children

To the Editor:

Once again extreme right wingers in last Friday’s Record like Ms. Rodibaugh of Flatonia, with her supporting kudos to Ms. Hooper, and Ms. Chernosky Parker of La Grange, make up a trifecta of half-truths and false assertions that only serve to deceive and distract the people of Fayette County from the actions we all should take to respect the lives of others and especially protect the kids under age 12 whose parents do not have the “personal choice” to provide those little kids with the Pfizer vaccine until this November, while last week Fayette County had three Covid deaths and La Grange Independent School District reported 28 school cases of COVID in just one week.

Now that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine has been safely tested on millions and given full approval by the FDA, the vaccinated rarely have to be placed in ICU and almost never die unlike those who refuse to vaccinate and are costing our health care industry and taxpayers at least $25,000 per COVID-19 patient in ICU and causing burnout among overwhelmed doctors and nurses, while persons with serious heart, kidney, and liver disease are denied needed medical equipment and long awaited surgery.

The refusal of our Republican Governor and GOP lawmakers to allow local school districts to mandate masks until those children are eligible to take the vaccine in November is nothing less than a needless and reckless endangering of the health and life of those little kids.
