My View of Meeting
To the editor:
Because I have voted as a Republican and as a Democrat, I felt a responsibility to attend the July 21 Fayette County Republican Women’s meeting. The guest speaker was Treniss Evans, who is awaiting trial for the obstruction of justice on January 6, for violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, and for knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building in connection to the insurrection.
Some of his message to the Fayette County Republican Women was about the police attacking people on January 6 and how the police were doing everything they should not be doing. He said people had come to peacefully protest with their flags and plastic flag poles.
Some attendees nodded in agreement to his story, and another said, “Hogwash!”
Mr. Evans talked about the state of the union, but to my disappointment he never named the sources that informed him.
