My Thoughts on Trump
To the Editor:
Ms. Reid, I beg to differ with your previous letter regarding President Trump’s party affiliation. He is definitely a Republican with an 84% approval rating amount Republicans if you believe in polls. You cannot separate Donald Trump from the Republican Party no matter how hard you try.
I don’t care who you are, you are not going to please everyone on your team. Sure, Mitt Romney and some of the other Republicans are not enthused with a lot of Trump’s policies but on the flip side I see lots of Democrats leaving the Democratic Party because of their displeasure with their radical liberal ways. This year, if you believe in polls, more African Americans will vote Republican than at any time in recent history, further evidence that you can’t please everybody.
You say he violated the Constitution? Which part of the Constitution are you referring to?
Trump is not a career politician like Joe Biden. The Presidency is the first political office that he has ever held. He is a businessman that understands the law of cause and effect. The directives that he has given transformed a lackluster economy into a powerhouse that was the envy of the world. Yes, the China Virus did come to our land and has dealt us a temporary setback, but already the stock market has nearly recovered, the unemployment rate is on a downward trend and we are anxiously awaiting a vaccine that will put us back on track.
As for the Lincoln Project, one of the founding members was George Conway, husband of Kellyanne Conway who was Trump’s chief political strategist. She is an unwavering supporter of Trump even though her husband is not. Perhaps his animosity is the result of not getting the Solicitor General job in the Trump administration that he wanted. Sour grapes?
Kamala Harris is also known for being the 29-year-old girlfriend of the powerful San Francisco mayor, Willie Brown, who was 60 and married (but separated) at the time. He appointed her to two powerful positions to get her started in politics. As recently as June of this year, she donated and solicited money for the Minnesota Freedom Fund. That fund steered donations to demonstrators that were arrested in Minneapolis during the May riots following the death of convicted felon George Floyd. That fund bailed out defendants from jail that were arrested for murder, violent felonies, and rape suspects while awaiting trial.
She was a supporter in June but now denounces the violence. My, what a chameleon.
As for Trump’s nomination to the Supreme Court, there is a vacancy and it is Trump’s Constitutional duty to put forth a qualified nominee which he has. Several Democratic Party leaders have said that Biden should not concede even if the votes show he has been defeated on election night because they intend to challenge the results in court with their legion of lawyers. This sort of suit would likely end up in the Supreme Court and if there was a tie we would be at a constitutional impasse. What are we supposed to do, flip a coin?
I know most Democrats and maybe some Republicans would like to have Trump’s Presidency come to an end, but in my opinion, we need a tough negotiator in the White House, not somebody that is going to be easy on China like Joe Biden. I doubt that Biden would be too tough on China since his son received $1.5 billion for him to invest in the US and he would have made millions off the investments.
Trump is the right man for the time.
